Custom Housings & Enclosures

Description

Vo-Tech designs and manufactures custom housings and enclosures engineered to customer specification — from precision-machined billet aluminum housings for electronics and fluid handling to fabricated and powder-coated steel enclosures for motor controls, networking hardware, and industrial control assemblies. Every project moves through design, machining or fabrication, and finishing in-house at our Crystal Lake, Illinois facility.

A custom enclosure protects what’s inside it — and how it’s built determines whether the equipment inside performs reliably for years or fails in the field. Vo-Tech approaches every housing and enclosure project as an engineering problem first: tolerances, fit, thermal management, ingress protection, mounting integration, and serviceability are specified up front and verified against the customer’s environment and equipment.

That discipline is reflected in the work. Precision-machined billet aluminum housings with tight-tolerance internal features, fabricated steel enclosures for motor and drive integration, and protective housings that turn standard rack-mount equipment into field-deployable hardware — all produced under one roof, with the same engineering and quality standards Vo-Tech applies to its precision machining work.

Capabilities

  • Precision CNC machining — Multi-axis machining of billet aluminum and steel for housings with tight-tolerance internal pockets, mounting features, sealing surfaces, and cable or fluid pass-throughs.
  • Steel fabrication — Welded and assembled steel enclosures for motor controls, panel-mount equipment, and integrated industrial control assemblies.
  • Custom protective housings — Field-rugged enclosures built around standard OEM equipment to extend deployable service life in industrial, outdoor, and harsh environments.
  • Design support — Engineering consultation from concept through manufacturing, including DFM review of customer-supplied designs.
  • Finishing — Anodize, powder coat, and paint finishes specified to match the service environment and customer branding requirements.

Materials and Finishes

  • Aluminum (6061 and other alloys) with hardcoat, clear, or color anodize finishes
  • Carbon steel with powder-coated or painted finishes in customer-specified colors
  • Stainless steel for corrosion-critical and washdown environments
  • Custom hardware — stainless fasteners, sealed cable glands, gaskets, and inserts specified to application

Typical Applications

  • Electronics and instrumentation enclosures
  • Motor, drive, and control housings
  • Fluid-handling and manifold bodies
  • Network and communications equipment housings
  • Field-deployable protective enclosures for OEM equipment
  • Industrial control panels and integrated assemblies
  • Custom packaging for sensors, cameras, and instrumentation

Engineered to Specification

Every custom housing or enclosure begins with the customer’s requirements — equipment dimensions, environmental conditions, mounting interfaces, ingress and thermal targets, finish and branding standards, and production volume. Vo-Tech’s engineering team translates those requirements into a manufacturable design, validates fit and finish through prototyping when required, and produces the parts in the same facility where they were designed.

This single-source approach keeps engineering and manufacturing in continuous communication throughout the build, eliminating the handoff errors and revision delays common in distributed supply chains.

Built to Order

All custom housings and enclosures are manufactured to order at Vo-Tech’s Crystal Lake, Illinois facility. Project scope ranges from one-off prototypes to recurring production runs supporting OEM customers.
